Allyl Bromide

Allyl Bromide is also known as 3-Bromo-1-propene, 3-Bromopropylene, 3-Bromopropene, 1-Propene, 3-bromo-, Bromallylene, 3-bromoprop-1-ene, Propene with Molecular Formula of C3H5Br and Molecular Weight of 120.9758.

It is manufactured through reaction of allyl alcohol and hydrogen bromide; partial dehydrobromination of dibromopropane and separation of isomers.

Available in colorless to light yellow liquid form, it has an unpleasant, pungent odor having Boiling Point of 71.3°C at 760 mm Hg, Melting Point of -119°C, Density/Specific Gravity of 1.398 at 20°C/4°C. Further, it has miscible solubility with ether, carbon disulfide, alcohol, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride and in water (3,835 mg/L at 25°C).
